Job Vacancy: Science Officer

Through a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Marine Research Consortium (KDM) and the Joint Programming Initiative Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans (JPI Oceans) are looking to recruit a science officer to work in both the European office of KDM (40%) and the JPI Oceans Secretariat in Brussels (60%).
KDM is a non-profit association made up of twenty institutions, universities and federal agencies of Germany in the field of ocean, coastal and polar sciences. With over 2,500 scientists of basic and applied marine research, KDM provides comprehensive expertise to meet global challenges related to the marine environment. KDM was founded to be an interlocutor between science and policy at regional, national and international levels as well as enable the German marine research community to speak with “one voice”. JPI Oceans is an intergovernmental platform, open to all EU Member States and Associated Countries who invest in marine and maritime research and innovation. Currently 20 countries are participating in JPI Oceans represented by their national ministries, research funding agencies or government-mandated marine institutes. JPI Oceans aims to make better use of Europe's R&D resources and increase the impact of investments by fostering alignment, coordination and co-production of scientific knowledge and innovation. JPI Oceans provide a unique forum for science-policy interactions within which marine and maritime research and innovation are implemented at national and European levels. 
The JPI Oceans secretariat is located in Brussels, with seconded staff full/part-time from across member states. The working language is English.
