A Joint Programming Initiative to meet the Grand Challenges regarding European Seas and Oceans.
On April 26 – 27 the CSA MarineBiotech held its first workshop in Olhão, Portugal. The CSA MarineBiotech is a preparatory action towards an ERA-NET in marine biotechnology.
On 19 April 2012 the French “Ocean and seas program” was presented to stakeholders and EU institutions at CLORA (Club des Organismes de Recherche Associés) Brussels. The “Oceans and seas program” was developed by the “French research alliance for environmental research” (AllEnvi) which ensures the French engagement in JPI Oceans. The presentation showed strong synergies between the ocean and seas programmes of AllEnvi and JPI Oceans.
On 20 March the JPI Oceans Management Board consisting of representatives of the 17 participating countries convened in Copenhagen. A constructive meeting was held on which a first strategic discussion took place on the use of structural funds for marine research infrastructures.
The Conference on Oceans, Climate and Security (GC '12) will examine the conditions that are likely to be produced by climate change, how these conditions will affect coastal and ocean ecosystems and communities, and how they may affect human and national security interests
On Wednesday 23 May 2012 the MarineTT project will host “An Open Stakeholder Workshop to Explore Challenges to Effective Knowledge Capture and Transfer”. The interactive workshop will take place in the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and the Arts (KVAB), Brussels.
The International Meeting on Marine Resources(IMMR)will gather participants to share knowledge on marine resources for the understanding and sustainability of the planet in Perniche,Portugal.
