Sustainable growth in the sectors of aquaculture and coastal tourism was the focus of a meeting in the European Parliament on the 19th of March. These are two of the five targeted areas of the European Union's Blue Growth Strategy that was launched in 2012. JPI Oceans was invited to discuss tools for implementing Blue Growth.
On the 5th of March Greece officially joined JPI Oceans nominating two representatives to the JPI Oceans Management Board.
After being postponed from the previously expected September date, the Global Oceans Action Summit for Food Security and Blue Growth will now take place in late April.

The 7th edition of the European Maritime Day Conference will be held in Bremen (Germany) on 19 and 20 May 2014. It is organised by the European Commission (DG for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries) in partnership with the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
