As part of JPI Oceans’ Facebook Live series, the next session on 18 February will welcome Dr. Adam Lillicrap, coordinator of the JPI Oceans Knowledge Hub on the Integrated Assessment of New Pollutants, and will focus on the effects of chemical contaminants on the marine environment. Previous sessions are now also available on the website.

Through Facebook Live, JPI Oceans aims to address important topics and showcase some of the interesting projects funded under the JPI Oceans portifolio. In 2020, featured projects included EUREC4A-OA on ocean-climate interactions, and the HOTMIC project on microplastics. Our next session will focus on chemical contaminants in the marine environment.

The effects of chemical contaminants on the marine environment

Our next Facebook Live will take place on the JPI Oceans Facebook page (link) on 18 February 2021 at 17:30 CET. The event will provide a first glimpse into a forthcoming policy paper developed by the  JPI Oceans Knowledge Hub on the Integrated Assessment of New Pollutants. It includes recommendations to policymakers on how to include marine chemical status effectively into integrated assessments.

For the occasion, JPI Oceans is pleased to welcome as guest speaker the coordinator of the Knowledge Hub, Dr. Adam Lillicrap from the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) in Oslo.  He will talk about the effects of chemical contaminants on the marine environment and how the Knowledge Hub attempts to counteract the risks. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A session with the audience.
