Willem De Moor is Deputy Director at JPI Oceans' secretariat. As part of his work, he is following up the Joint Actions on the ecological aspects of deep-sea mining and Science for Good Environmental Status. Before joining the JPI Oceans secretariat, Willem worked as a policy adviser at the Flemish Ministry for Economy, Science and Innovation where he was part of the EU presidency team. Previously, he worked as a policy adviser at the cabinet of the Flemish minister of Economy, Science and Innovation. Willem is seconded to the JPI Oceans secretariat by Flanders (Belgium).

Joint Call for Proposals on Underwater Noise in the Marine Environment

Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain under the framework of JPI Oceans and together with BANOS, BlueMed, NOAA and the UN Ocean Decade, are pleased to launch this call, with a deadline for proposals on 28 February 2022.

Announcement: new JPI Oceans Joint Call on the ecological aspects of deep-sea mining

With the support of Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania and the UK, JPI Oceans aims to further advance scientific knowledge in support of policy making on deep-sea mining, while facilitating the analysis of related ethical implications and societal consequences. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals in response to the joint call is 1 March 2024.

New JPI Oceans Joint Call on Science for Good Environmental Status

With the support of Belgium, Italy, Malta and Ireland, JPI Oceans aims to advance scientific knowledge and methodologies supporting the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) implementation through process-based approaches to environmental status assessment.

Joint Call on Offshore Freshened Groundwater

JPI Oceans is pleased to pre-announce the launch of a Joint Call on Offshore Freshened Groundwater, designed to advance the knowledge of these groundwater resources. The call is foreseen to open for applications on 4 December 2025, with a deadline on 6 March 2026.
